Five Favorites Video... Featuring Luna.

Out of all of the emails I get from readers, I have found that you guys are really interested in the crap that I use on my face everyday. I opted for the video format just because any lengthy posts can get a little bit annoying to read - so I figured this would be more entertaining for you all. Let's be honest, when you see a blog post that rivals one of the Harry Potter books in terms of length, you click right back to Facebook or Twitter or whatever you were doing and continue like you never even saw the damn thing.

I'm recovering from some allergy/sinus issues - so I'm sorry if I sound nasally lol.. I also want to give a disclaimer that there is an attention seeking italian greyhound in this video that wants nothing more than for me to throw her tennis ball. Enjoy.

Tarte Lip Tint ($24.00) <- apparently the color I showcased isn't available through the site, but there is a very similar shade called "joy"
Senna Matte Eyecolor in Blend ($16.50)
e.l.f. Mineral Foundation + SPF15 in Light ($5.00)
Kat Von D Sin-Full Lash Mascara ($19.00) <- not as bad as I thought price-wise

Never hesitate to email me suggestions, comments, or questions! I love hearing from each and every one of you! You can direct everything to unnecessarydrama@gmail.com!

Senna Gets Springy With It

I'll tell you what - Senna treats me like a freaking princess. I am extremely grateful to have a relationship with them & I will forever sing their praises. Not only do they make extremely high-quality makeup that I am always impressed with, they are an all-around good company.

About a week ago, they sent me over a few of their new shades for Spring. I usually change up my makeup routine fairly dramatically when the weather gets warmer & these seem to fit in pretty well with what I do with my face in the Spring. I tend to stay away from super dark colors and I definitely play around with brighter colors a little bit more. I don't know - something just feels wrong about celebrating Easter with black smokey eyes and an obscene amount of bronzer.

So here's what I will be gushing about in this post:

Pressed Powder Blush in Tres Jolie - $18.50
Velvet Eyeliner in Black Violet - $18.00

First of all, Senna's packaging is really awesome, as always. Second - I want to add in that the eyeliner has a smudge tip on the opposite end which I forgot to take a picture of.

Anyhow, the blush is nice on my skin tone. I am pretty pale, but I have a little hint of olive in my skin. The website describes the color as a "clear glowing pink" which is pretty accurate. It has just a tiny little hint of shimmer to it, but I definitely wouldn't classify it as sparkly. This is a huge plus in my book because I don't enjoy looking like I dunked my head in a vat of pearlescent glitter.

Looks pretty natural, just a little color which is all you really need.
Oh yeah - I cut all my hair off, too..

Next, this freaking eyeliner applies like butter, I'm not even kidding. I get really annoyed whenever I get a new eyeliner and I have to shove it into my eyelid with the strength of Jesus in order for it to spit any type of color out onto my skin. Fresh out of the package - this eyeliner goes on smooth and really pigmented.

I have issues with purple liner and shadows because if they're not dark enough, they can make me look like I'm sick. This shade is called "black violet" and even though I was skeptical, I found that it's just dark enough and doesn't have that "pinkish" color to it whenever its smudged out. I like to take colored eyeliners and apply them thick, then smudge them out around my eyes. I usually don't pair it with shadow, just a little bit of black liner and some black mascara. It's kind of a happy medium between smokey eyes and light makeup. With a pop of color - it's a really cute and easy look:

Senna also makes this really easy since they include the smudge tip right on the other side of the liner tube. Really quick and easy, and it's a nice medium between too heavy and too light. Perfect if you feel like a full-on smokey eye looks too harsh on you.

And if you have blue eyes like me - purple makes your eyes pop.. a lot :)

So if you'd like to try either of these products, you can find them both on Senna's website at www.sennacosmetics.com. I want to take the time to send a big THANK YOU their way for making me one of their trusted blogging partners, as well. They're a great company, and I hope you will all give them a try if you haven't already! Hope you all had a great Easter, as well!

Sephora's "Say Hello" Hello Kitty Palette

I am a Hello Kitty NERD. The ULTIMATE. I have a Hello Kitty build-a-bear, my iPod has a Hello Kitty skin on it, I have a Hello Kitty wallet/planner/glasses case, there is a Hello Kitty decal on my car, etc... While I am usually not a fan of cartoon character overkill - I like to think I do Hello Kitty in the classiest way possible. Nothing I own is tacky and I choose my battles with the sacred cat very carefully.

So when Sephora was like "hey we're gonna make a whole Hello Kitty line" - I just about crapped my pants. I trusted Sephora to do it in the non-cheesiest way possible & judging by the packaging, I'd say they accomplished that. They have some cute blinged out stuff, too - but I'm not paying $50 for a mirror shaped like Hello Kitty covered in rhinestones.

Anyways - I got two things from the collection. One is the "Say Hello" palette which includes 4 eyeshadows and 4 solid lipglosses. The other was a small bottle of the perfume which is apparently just called "Hello Kitty fragrance". I hope the marketing team didn't hurt themselves coming up with that one.

This is the Say Hello palette in SUPER FUN (lol).
It's available only at Sephora & if you want to buy it online,
it's available here through their website for $35.

So what did I think? Hmm.. Well. Honestly - I don't think it's worth $35. While I love the packaging to death (99.9% of the reason I chose this product over the others) - the colors are umm.. okay? I'm actually pretty sure I had this EXACT same quad in like 9th grade and it was from CVS. I was hoping that the line would produce some funkier, bolder shades but mmmmmnot so much. The other palette has all lighter shades (mint green, medium brown, lilac, & white) and didn't appeal to me at all - so I figured if I was going to try one, this would be it. I do think the sweet plum color is pretty, but the black & metallic gray are pretty standard and the sugarplum lilac color doesn't have a ton of pigmentation.

And uhhh.. where's the highlight color? I'm not putting lilac on my brow bone. Nice try, though. I know it's not a requirement to have a highlight color somewhere in the palette, but I'm just saying - it'd be nice. Especially since they kind of market this as an "all-in-one" kit.

The lipglosses don't get swatches. Because even though they have color in the picture - they have none on your lips. They all smell like grape & they claim to have like grape seed oil in them so I guess they're moisturizing & shit. Honestly, I'm probably never going to use them lol. Takes a good 3-4 swipes with the ol' finger to get a little bit of shine & since they're underneath the eyeshadows - I forget they exist.

Just being honest.

The perfume is alright. The bottle is shaped like her head, so once again packaging - YOU WIN. I got it with my beauty insider points, so it was free. Not sure if they still have that promo going on, but if you're interested - just ask your local Sephora chick. I got it in-store, not online. The website says it has "notes of green apple and Japanese fruits". They also claim that it will make you smile inside. Can't attest to the second one, but I can tell you that I definitely get a citrus vibe from it. Good not great - I'm more of a fan of light floral scents, honestly. But if you like citrus - maybe give it a shot.

Overall, Hello Kitty looks better on my car/planner/wallet/glasses case than she does in my makeup collection. It's $35 that you could spend on a better quality palette. Learn from my mistakes, pretty ladies. Don't let the packaging seduce you.

Toki Doki Robbery Palette!

Watch the full video review below :)

^ deep in thought - _ -
i cannot win with still screens.

Swatches:

(Sorry that the bronzer/blushes are a bit hard to see -
remember that they're not shadows, so they're a little bit milder in pigmentation)

The TokiDoki Robbery palette is available at Sephora. I bought it for $49, but they actually lowered the price $10 since then - so you can score it for just $39. Lucky bitches!! :) Click here to take advantage & order directly through the Sephora website. They say it's a $149 value.. don't know how true that is but hey - sure makes it sounds like you're getting one hell of a deal ;) Let me know if you'll be picking it up.

Enjoy! xo

Catching Up & Make Up!

Hey Lovelies! It has been such a crazy hectic week for me already and it's only flippin' Wednesday. I promised you guys I'd post something on like Monday & I'm just getting around to it now... yeesh. But hey - better than sitting around on my bum all week, right? RIGHT.

So as for this weekend, we all had a great time in West Virginia and I'm happy to say the $18 we spent to go to the penitentiary was well worth it. Wearing a PITT hoodie was not a good idea on my part (WVU & PITT are huge college football rivals for those of you unfamiliar), so I got put into a cell by myself and such. Made for a great time, though & we all made it back alive! Here's a picture of us all in the hillbilly hotel before we headed out for the evening. I hadn't put the hoodie on yet :o( :

I do love that zebra cardigan, though :o)

Sooo when I came home on Sunday it was one of my good friends' homecoming dance, and I typically do her makeup for all her school dances so of course I was there for this once since she's a seeeenior this year. I ended up doing a few of her friends', too & everybody looked lovely. I got pictures of Kelli (sweet name, eh?) and Becky. Kelli is going to torment me for exploiting her face all over the internet but she looked fantastic so I have to:

First one is with flash, second one is without. I used all Jesse's Girl shadows! Mixed up the brown & gold palette with some of the eye dusts. I think it came out really pretty!

First one is with flash, second is without. I did the same with Becky and used all Jesse's girl shadows. As you can see, they blend really really nicely. Both girls wore fake lashes, too & they looked pretty pretty pretty :D If you guys want detailed tutorials let me know, but I wanted to post pics at least!

And not to leave Erin out.. here we are with Kell before she headed out the door to get pics taken (please excuse my "electrocution hair" - as Jim so lovingly calls it :D). Erin & Kelli are sisters.. would you ever guess it? haha, I love them both.

I'm going to miss doing makeup for them once they graduate and I don't have anybody else to make over for dances and such :o( Speaking of makeup in general - I got some knock-off MAC Hello Kitty lipsticks on a website called "Tradetang" & they came from China. The packaging is almost identical and the colors are really close, the only difference is that HK herself isn't "stamped" into the actual lipstick. I got 20 of them and there are some shades that I'm keeping and some that are duplicates. If you'd be interested in picking up a few - shoot me an email - kelspot@gmail.com or leave a comment with your email and I'll get back to you. I hate to have them sitting around and like I said, they're just like the real ones but obviously... CHEAPER! Here are pictures:

Lemme know!

Have a great rest of the week, dolls.

New Brushes & WTF are These?

So I got home today and WOOHOO! I had a little package waiting for me. I was hoping they would come today and they definitely did. I ordered some new makeup brushes off of eBay from Korea a few weeks ago and they ended up being super cute :o) They aren't a brand name or anything, but I got them as a nice set to take on the road with me since they came with a nice little roll up pouch. The pink tips were intriguing, too - you gotta admit they are totally cute. Plus, for $8 (that included shipping) .. I couldn't pass them up. I'm impressed at how soft they are. I think I'm going to replace my current blush brush with this one because it's so so soft. I love that. Check them out:

Also, totally a dumb girl thing, but I love that they perfecly match the case. The pink hardware is great, too!

Now here is where I need the help of my followers. These are from Korea and all the girls I've ordered from over there are all adorably generous and always throw in bonus things. Typically it's stickers or hair clips or something along those lines.. this time - I got something that I have absolutely NO IDEA what they are. The only other person home to ask at the time I opened the box was my dad, and when I showed him - he just laughed (so obviously.. no help there).. Here they are:
Of course, nothing on the package is english - but to summarize.. they are basically 2 sheets of what seem to be the "rough" side of vel-cro.. about the size of a card & when I resorted to the back of the package to see what the hell they were used for - I found pictures of girls wearing them STUCK to their head awkwardly.. Is this some type of fashion craze we're missing out on here in the US or am I just completely lost?? Someone help? Please?

xoxo

It May be Unnecessary - But I Love It..

Good morning everybody. Hope everyone made it past the mid-week point without wanting to rip their hair out and/or murder a co-worker. I'm happy to say that I've had a surprisingly good week thus far and since I'm off tomorrow, I can't complain about a damn thing.

Boyfriend leaves for college this weekend. This will be the first year I won't be in school while he still is. Kind of weird, but I like making money (and he likes the benefits that come from me making money) so I'm happy with where I am right now. It'll be nice to be able to go up there & see him on the weekends & he comes home a lot - so unlike most girlfriends who are crying and damning their boyfriend's colleges to hell.. I'm kind of excited. He rooms with 2 of his best friends who also happen to be some of my good friends so it's a good time for all of us. Plus it gives me an excuse to work out during the week :P and who doesn't need one of those? Nice to be in a stable relationship and not have to worry.

In other news, my workplace is like a crime scene this morning - HIGHLY exciting. Someone SOMEHOW stole one of the DESKTOP computers out of our business center. If you're unfamiliar, I work at an apartment community - and we have a little business center in our clubhouse with computers, fax machines, copiers, etc... Well we come in today to discover one of the two computers is missing and since there are no cameras - nobody has any idea where it went. And the only reason we really noticed (because we have no need to really go in there ever) is because a resident who always uses the missing computer asked me where it went. I thought nothing of it since the computer was on the fritz and would overheat and shut off randomly, so I thought our manager had it sent out for repairs.. not the case. Can't tell you it's not an exciting situation because it is. I feel like I'm playing Clue.

Finally, I caved and bought the "master set" from E.L.F. yesterday. I had a discount code so I used that to my advantage. Can't wait to get it. 180+ pieces of pure bliss :)

yee haw! that's gonna be one big box!! :)

Have a good day everyone!

xoxo
