Five Favorites Video... Featuring Luna.

Out of all of the emails I get from readers, I have found that you guys are really interested in the crap that I use on my face everyday. I opted for the video format just because any lengthy posts can get a little bit annoying to read - so I figured this would be more entertaining for you all. Let's be honest, when you see a blog post that rivals one of the Harry Potter books in terms of length, you click right back to Facebook or Twitter or whatever you were doing and continue like you never even saw the damn thing.

I'm recovering from some allergy/sinus issues - so I'm sorry if I sound nasally lol.. I also want to give a disclaimer that there is an attention seeking italian greyhound in this video that wants nothing more than for me to throw her tennis ball. Enjoy.

Tarte Lip Tint ($24.00) <- apparently the color I showcased isn't available through the site, but there is a very similar shade called "joy"
Senna Matte Eyecolor in Blend ($16.50)
e.l.f. Mineral Foundation + SPF15 in Light ($5.00)
Kat Von D Sin-Full Lash Mascara ($19.00) <- not as bad as I thought price-wise

Never hesitate to email me suggestions, comments, or questions! I love hearing from each and every one of you! You can direct everything to unnecessarydrama@gmail.com!

Senna Gets Springy With It

I'll tell you what - Senna treats me like a freaking princess. I am extremely grateful to have a relationship with them & I will forever sing their praises. Not only do they make extremely high-quality makeup that I am always impressed with, they are an all-around good company.

About a week ago, they sent me over a few of their new shades for Spring. I usually change up my makeup routine fairly dramatically when the weather gets warmer & these seem to fit in pretty well with what I do with my face in the Spring. I tend to stay away from super dark colors and I definitely play around with brighter colors a little bit more. I don't know - something just feels wrong about celebrating Easter with black smokey eyes and an obscene amount of bronzer.

So here's what I will be gushing about in this post:

Pressed Powder Blush in Tres Jolie - $18.50
Velvet Eyeliner in Black Violet - $18.00

First of all, Senna's packaging is really awesome, as always. Second - I want to add in that the eyeliner has a smudge tip on the opposite end which I forgot to take a picture of.

Anyhow, the blush is nice on my skin tone. I am pretty pale, but I have a little hint of olive in my skin. The website describes the color as a "clear glowing pink" which is pretty accurate. It has just a tiny little hint of shimmer to it, but I definitely wouldn't classify it as sparkly. This is a huge plus in my book because I don't enjoy looking like I dunked my head in a vat of pearlescent glitter.

Looks pretty natural, just a little color which is all you really need.
Oh yeah - I cut all my hair off, too..

Next, this freaking eyeliner applies like butter, I'm not even kidding. I get really annoyed whenever I get a new eyeliner and I have to shove it into my eyelid with the strength of Jesus in order for it to spit any type of color out onto my skin. Fresh out of the package - this eyeliner goes on smooth and really pigmented.

I have issues with purple liner and shadows because if they're not dark enough, they can make me look like I'm sick. This shade is called "black violet" and even though I was skeptical, I found that it's just dark enough and doesn't have that "pinkish" color to it whenever its smudged out. I like to take colored eyeliners and apply them thick, then smudge them out around my eyes. I usually don't pair it with shadow, just a little bit of black liner and some black mascara. It's kind of a happy medium between smokey eyes and light makeup. With a pop of color - it's a really cute and easy look:

Senna also makes this really easy since they include the smudge tip right on the other side of the liner tube. Really quick and easy, and it's a nice medium between too heavy and too light. Perfect if you feel like a full-on smokey eye looks too harsh on you.

And if you have blue eyes like me - purple makes your eyes pop.. a lot :)

So if you'd like to try either of these products, you can find them both on Senna's website at www.sennacosmetics.com. I want to take the time to send a big THANK YOU their way for making me one of their trusted blogging partners, as well. They're a great company, and I hope you will all give them a try if you haven't already! Hope you all had a great Easter, as well!

Hot Lips for Chilly Weather

Hola Ladies!

I've had some product reviews building up that I've been needing to do, and when it dawned on me that 4 of the products that needed reviewing were lippies, I figured I'd roll them all into one post. Before I even start, I wanna thank Duchess, Crazy Rumors, and Senna for sending me the following products to check out.

With cold weather upon us and the holidays right around the bend (47 days until Christmas) - there are two things that you need to be worried about when it comes to your luscious lips:

Number one - keeping them protected. Dry, cold air is a bitch & chapped lips are an even bigger bitch. Even if your lips aren't chapped right now, keeping them moisturized all the time will prevent this painful and seriously unfortunate looking epidemic from striking you.

Number two - looking hot. You're going to be going to holiday parties and all that jazz. You need something for Thanksgiving dinner that won't make Grandma think you're a hussy AND you need something that turns the heat up a couple notches when Gram isn't around. I've got you covered on both ends.

"Crazy Rumors" is a fun company that prides itself on using all natural ingredients and fun flavors. They sent me 2 of their lip balms - a Mocha from their "perk" line and an Orange Bergamot from their "brew" line. Coffee and tea lovers, get down, because you're going to love these. They're definitely a bit more scented than most lip balms, but I like them because there are no funky ingredients - which I think is super important if you're going strictly for the benefit of your lips. Plus, they smell way better than those medicated, store brand balms & let's face it: they're fun! They have a ton of varieties and they're all reasonably priced, too ($3.99 per balm). Check out their all natural, cruelty free, vegan brand here.

Here's my Thanksgiving dinner friendly suggestion, which is brought to us by the lovies over at Duchess Cosmetics. I love Duchess lip glosses because they:
1. are not sticky at all, but they're still glossy without feeling oily
2. smell like citrus and vanilla had a delicious love child
and 3. feel and look lightweight,
which is perfect if you don't want to feel/look overdone.

Let's admit that while I may love hot pink lip gloss with gold glitter in it, it's not always practical. This particular color is called "Kate" and if you have a fair skin tone like I do - this is kind of that happy medium plummy color that compliments everything. It's great for fall because it's not too intense, but it definitely gives you a pop of color. They run $18 a tube, so they're more of an investment, but it's a great go-to lipgloss that won't let you down. See all the colors on the Duchess website.

And now my friends, it's time to get Saucy. This lipgloss is freaking hot. The picture does not do the color justice, but it looks to me like your lips are throwing a hot holiday banger and whoever looks at them will want to be invited.

It's that good.

The color is called "LUSH" and Senna describes it as a "gold flecked berry". It's a little bit thicker than most glosses, meaning it is a little stickier - but if you plan on doing a lot of talking, drinking, eating - you need something a little bit more heavy duty. It's a brand new color for fall and even though these pups are $19 a tube, you will get compliments on this gloss - it even looks sexy in the tube. Check it out & the rest of Senna's unreal colors on the Senna website. You've gotta have at least one in your collection.

Well, my ladies - there we have it. I hope those suggestions will come in handy when stocking up for the cold winter months. As always, questions and comments are welcome & I hope all of you have a great week ahead!

Senna Cosmetics Review!

Hi Ladies!

As promised, this post will be about some of the products I received from Senna cosmetics over the weekend. I had never heard of Senna - so I was really excited whenever they asked if I would review some stuff for them. I'll post links to all of the products, and as always - if you ladies have any questions... you know you can always e-mail me at kelspot@gmail.com. Enjoy the review & check out what Senna has to offer! They're fantastic :o)

The Lip Sync Duos pair a perfectly matched lipstick & lipgloss that come in 4 different shades. The ones I have pictured are "Stunning", "Paris Pink", & "A La Mode". I've found that I like wearing just the glosses themselves, too, since they're all fairly nude colors. A major bonus is that the gloss is not sticky at all. Probably one of the best lip glosses I've tried in a long time.

The sparkly & glossy Lip Lacquers  last an incredibly long time & I got the privilege to try out one of the shades from the Spring 2010 line (which is the pink one, called "Sunkiss"). The gold shade, "Star Bright", is currently available and is perfect if you want a sparkly, but neutral lip. These are both extremely versatile colors, so they'll definitely be in my daily line up. It's tough to find a gloss that really lasts and I can honestly say that I've made it through a good 2 hours at work without having to reapply. And that's sayin' somethin'.

Now if there's one product you MUST have from Senna - it's 100% their Liquid Ice Illuminating drops. This stuff is magic. It's basically a highlighter that can be mixed into anything (foundation, moisturizer, tinted moisturizer, etc...) to give your face that healthy, dewy glow all year round. I use this every single day now & like I said if you want to try them out - this is the route to go! The protective oil stick is another must have for this time of year. Think of it as like... Superman lip balm. It's extremely silky (not runny, oily, gross or anything) & is super hydrating. If you have extremely dry lips thank to the shit-tastically dry winter air - meet your new best friend. I put this on before bed now every night.

I have had a bitch of a time finding a good concealer & until Senna blessed me with their HD Hyra Cover Palette - I thought I'd have to just get used to the dark circles. Honestly - BEST CONCEALER ... EVER. As you can see by this pic - the little pup has gotten some use already & I couldn't be happier. With 3 different shades that accomodate me even when I have a tan - it'll be the best $38.00 you ever spend.
The little guy to the right is their Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer. It's a pretty thick formula, so you don't need much, and it has the consistency of almost a thick concealer - so it really acts as a true BASE for your makeup. If you're dark skinned, you may have some issues with this - but other than that - it certainly gets the job done.

Finally, we have their combonation powder/cream "Cheeky Blush" in Tigress & their "Eye Bling" in Topaz. Both products are a combo of a powder and cream, so they're a very smooth, unique consistency. I find that strictly cream products tend to be both too bold and pretty short lived, and powders seem to be too dull at times. This happy medium of product gives you a really "clean" looking finish and both offer a sparkle without looking like you just left Studio 54. Both are new for Fall colors and now that I see them side by side, they look fantastic together! Tigress is a warm coral, so it'll look great on any skin tone. And who doesn't
look good with a shimmery neutral tone on the eyes?? Survey Says - NOBODY!

So once again, big thank you to Senna for the amazing products! I hope that you guys will give them a try (like I said, if you want 2 great products to start with - go for the concealer palette & the liquid ice), as well as let me know your thoughts on everything :o) Hope you're all having a great week & I'll talk to you all soon!

p.s. 2 days until CHRISTMAS!!!

Let it Snow, Let it Sn- .. Okay That's Enough... Seriously, You Can Stop Now.

Well I hope everyone had a very fun & safe weekend.. Especially if you were caught in that shit-tastic blizzard a majority of us seemed to get hit with over in the east. Typically, my theory with snow is the more of it the better but when the storm is causing things like this to happen to your friends:

... you tend to get a little "over" snow.

Everyone is fine, by the way, and I think the highlight of my day was watching 4 guys literally LIFT the car out of the ditch. One of them was boyfriend... so that was a spectacle. Matt claims he's never going down this hill again, even in the summertime. Can't say I blame him.

So anyways, sorry for the lack of updates over the past couple days. I got some stuff in from Senna cosmetics & I've been using it to really get a feel for it before I do a review. Everything thus far is wonderful and there's only a few things left for me to give a whirl before I post. The lady I spoke with, Alison, was super nice & she sent me information on the company itself both before I got the stuff and with the package- so that was great. If you've never heard of Senna (because I hadn't) - check out their website www.sennacosmetics.com .. It was very nice to get everything try out in the mail on a snowy day where you don't feel like doing too much of anything :)

I'll have the review up for you later this week & until then.. get your fracking Christmas shopping done! I also have everything ready to go for Emily Anne, the winner of the Pretty Claus giveaway :D hooray for Christmas!

Have a great week ahead! It's going to be an exciting one!
